Getting Around Samui

The most common form of transport around Samui is motor bike. Rental cars and four wheel vehicles are available. Taxis are found in Chaweng, Lamai, Nathon, Bophut and Mae Nam. Motor bikes with to hire drivers are every where. Public Songtao - pick-up trucks with two benches in the back - constantly circle the island - just flag them down and ask the price to your destination. Most of the larger hotels will have courtesy vehicles.

Not Quite Dykes on Bikes...

One of the most wonderful things to do on your holiday on Samui is to hire a motor bike and ride around the island - better still with a new friend. The warm air, smell of the landscape, quietness and vistas are intoxicating. Early morning and dusk have a special magic. After rain the landscape smells heavenly so stop and take it in along with the quiet. While riding around the built up areas of Chaweng, Lamai, Mae Nam and Nathon is anything but a pleasure, there are spectacular ocean and coastal views from the hills between Chaweng and Lamai.

The South and West of the island are just wonderful places to spend a day travelling around. Take a road map and bottled water, be adventurous. Get off the main roads and see what/who you discover. Gay men will just love seeing Thai guys around the island stripped off and working - they are happy to chat with you if you take an interest in what they are doing. Smile and don't be shy.
